Environment

Jávea

Jávea is situated in the privileged environment of the Levante coast, where the ends of the Nao, San Antonio, and the Montgó rivers and the Mediterranean Sea shape our natural borders.

Our town is located between Alicante and Valencia, and the proximity of the Mediterranean AP-7 motorway makes for an easy connection to the airports of these two cities.  Jávea has a registered population of around 35,000 inhabitants of many different nationalities.  Many have chosen Jávea as their permanent residence for its fabulous year-round climate.  It is worth mentioning that during the summer months our population triples.  Our crystal clear beaches and coves are perfect attractions for those who love the sun and the sea, as well as the diverse tourist options that our town offers.

Jávea is made up of three clearly defined urban centres; El Casco Antiguo, with its narrow, cobbled streets, its white houses crowned with rough stone typical of the region, and the friendliness of its people allows one to submerge in a calm and quiet environment.  The town also boasts of the church fortress of San Bartolomé.

The port, known as Aduanas, is the fishing zone of Jávea.  A lovely walk borders the sea until the fish market, where fresh fish, recently brought in from our bay, are auctioned daily.  The long beach is synonymous with leisure time and fun.  During the morning it is a fine-grained sand beach, and at night the restaurants and bars turn the beach into the nerve centre of all of our visitors.

When spring arrives so do the popular holidays, both religious and secular, of which the most important are the holidays in honour of Jesús Nazareno, the bonfires of San Juan at the end of June, the holiday in July known as the Moors, and the festivities in honour of the Virgin of Loreto in September.

As Jávea is a typical fishing town, the cuisine is based on products fresh from the sea and from Valencia’s gardens, not to mention our stupendous rices.  In Jávea, you will find the best restaurants where you can sample our typical dishes
